Attention all Thornton Road travelers! We have exciting news! The new TGS driveway opens TOMORROW! We are looking forward to decreased traffic on Thornton Road resulting in an easier and less congested carpool process in the mornings and the afternoons. Please note the following:

The new entrance will start out divided into three lanes:

Morning Drop Off

Right Lane - curbside drop off

Left Lane - park and walk in to drop off

Afternoon Pick Up

Left Lane - PK-K, grades 3-5

Middle Lane - Open, for early pick ups in the afternoon & emergencies only

Right Lane - grades 1-2

Once the three lanes merge into two after the cones, it will proceed exactly as it has in years past.

The new exit (previously both entrance and exit) will have two lanes:

Left Lane - to turn left onto Thornton Road

Right Lane - to turn right onto Thornton Road

Safe travels, and thank you for your patience as everyone grows accustomed to the new process!

TGS parents, if you haven't registered for the fall parties on Friday, you are still absolutely welcome to attend. However, please keep in mind that you will be required to stand in line that day and have your ID scanned. The lines will likely be long so please plan accordingly, allowing enough time before the start time of your child's party. Stickers will be pre-printed for all pre-registered guests, and a current volunteer badge is sufficient to bypass the process. We look forward to a fun Friday!

A highlight of the 5th grade DC trip every year is visiting the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Arlington National Cemetery’s most iconic memorial. This year, chosen from a host of written essays, Will Bunt (TGS), Brinley Calloway (HES), Huntlann Hancock (KBS), and Audra McLaughlin (TGS) had the honor of participating in the wreath presentation, and an honor it truly was for all the 5th graders to witness.
